A THRIVING CAREER
Get To Know Addie!
Addie Heyliger is an accomplished technology professional with over two decades interfacing with senior business executives and technical teams. She provides leadership to a technology organization in the areas of Business Engagement, Project Management, and Portfolio Value and Delivery.
While Addie has excelled professionally and has won many awards in her career, her true passion is service. Bringing over 25 years of community service to the Fort Bend/Houston Area, Addie has devoted her talents to improving her community. Her volunteer work began with preparing and delivering meals to families with ill loved ones.
Addie fulfilled her life long passion of advocating for children in the foster care system with the adoption of her two children. Addie continues to encourage adoption in her community through her work with various organizations, promoting placements from foster care to adoption.
In addition to her adoption advocacy, she is an advocate for children with mental illness. Addie works closely with local law enforcement and medical professionals in order to render proper services for youth.
Most notably, she was elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2018 as Trustee to serve on the Fort Bend Independent School Board.
Currently, Addie serves as the Fort Bend ISD Board President. With Addie’s assistance, the Fort Bend Independent School District increased the academic ratings for schools that required academic improvement. Additional accomplishments include creation of an Early Literacy Center, offering Early College High School and Pathways in Technology programs, development of universal course selection for all high school students, establishment of special education improvement programs for more inclusion of special needs children, institution of a board leadership academy, and most importantly, driving high academic accountability for all the students in the district.
Addie believes that the foundation of a child’s education is their ability to read. She initiated the “Addie’s Read-A-Thon” to support one of the underperforming schools in the district where over 70 volunteers from the community and professional organizations volunteer their time. Due to the success of this program, the read-a-thon was quickly adopted and is now an annual event.
Addie is a certified technology professional, having earned her undergraduate degree in Computer Science from North Carolina A&T State University and her Master’s in Business Administration from Texas Women’s University. She is a certified Project Management Professional.
She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The Links Incorporated, and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She is an active member of The Fort Bend Church.
She also serves as the president of the National Congress of Black Women – Houston Metropolitan Chapter.
She is the proud mother of two handsome young men, Milton and Alex Heyliger.
Advocating for Every Child's Needs
As a Parent and Trustee, I have witnessed the success of creating an environment where our children feel loved and respected. I have committed myself to advocating for students that are in special need of care. Childhood literacy has a special place in my story and my heart. Every year, I celebrate my birthday to highlight the importance of childhood literacy with Addie's Book Day read-a-thon. On this day, friends, family, and community members volunteer to read books to the students of Fort Bend ISD. Please check out some of my favorite memories of Addie's Book Day over the past three years!
